Brigadier General Luca Baione joint the Italian Air Force Academy in 1984 and graduated in 1988 as 1st Lieutenant, he holds a Master’s Degree in “International and diplomatic sciences”, a First Level Master Degree in “International relations and strategy”, he is qualified as “Legal advisor on international humanitarian law”.
After the operational phase as interceptor controller, Luca Baione gained large international experiences serving as Military Observer for MINURSO (United Nation Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara)
Liaison Officer to the Foreign Ministry of the former Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia in Belgrade within the OSCE Kosovo Verification Mission
Branch Chief “Resources, Logistics and Manpower” at the Italian Military Representative to the NATO Military Committee in Brussels.
March 2013 through March 2015 he was the Military Assistant to Deputy Chief of Defence, then Military Assistant to the Chief of Defence until January 2017.
In January 2017 he took office as Deputy Military Advisor to the President of the Council of Ministers until October 2019, responsible for the coordination of the Crisis Management Unit and Point of Contact for the EU Commission for Critical Infrastructure Protection.
Presently he is responsible for the Italian Air Force Meteorological Service, in this position he is the Italian Permanent Representative at the World Meteorological Organization, where he was elected as member of the Executive Council, June, 2nd 2023.

General Baione lives in Rome, is married to Stefania and has 2 daughters (Chiara 28 and Martina 19) and a son (Paolo 26), and 2 dogs (Pizzi and Simba).
