Professor Angelakis has been leading quantum computing research teams in the Cambridge UK, TU Crete and the Centre for Quantum Technologies Singapore for more than 25 years. His academic work focuses in developing hardware efficient quantum algorithms that can be implemented with near term quantum computers, with applications in optimisation and machine learning. He was honoured with the 2018 Google Quantum Innovation Award, the Valerie Myerscough Award from University of London, as well the best PhD thesis award in Quantum Electronics from the Institute of Physics UK. Prof Angelakis currently serves as a member of National AI Task Force for Cyprus, the Informatics Group of NCRTI Greece, and the QCN group of the EU Quantum Flagship. Past engagements include the Cloud Quantum Computing Coordinator for the Singapore Quantum Engineering Program. He has recently founded AngelQ Quantum Computing a consulting and quantum software solutions company developing quantum AI solutions for finance, logistics, pharma, and defence sectors. AngelQ has operations in Singapore, Greece, UK and Canada. Current and past engangements include including Kantar WPP, Thales, Pfizer, ExxonMobil and Singapore Stock Exchange.
