Lilian Venetia Vildiridi is an economist specializing in health policy, planning, and financing. She holds a BSc in Social Policy and Economics from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and an MSc in Health Policy, Planning, and Financing from LSE and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM). She is currently pursuing a PhD at the School of Health Sciences, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.
Ms. Vildiridi has held significant roles, including serving as Office Director to the Alternate Minister of Health, M. Gaga (February 2022 – May 2023) and to the acting Minister of Health, A. Kotanidou (June 2023). She has also served as an advisor to Alternate Minister M. Gaga (September 2021 – January 2022) and Alternate Minister of Health, V. Kontozamanis (July 2019 – August 2021). Since July 2023, she has been serving as the Secretary General for Health Services in the Hellenic Ministry of Health.
In her capacity as coordinator of the Task Force overseeing the implementation of actions under the NextGenerationEU program (Recovery and Resilience Facility), Ms. Vildiridi was responsible for advancing health-related projects within the Ministry of Health. Additionally, she chaired the Monitoring Committee for the project “Renovations and Modernization of Hospitals Throughout Greece.” In 2020, she was appointed as Greece’s representative to the European Commission Steering Committee for the joint procurement of COVID-19 vaccines and treatments.
Ms. Vildiridi has also worked as a research associate at the LSE Health and Social Care Research Centre. Her research interests center on health system performance assessment (HSPA) and human resource management in healthcare, with a focus on regulation, access to care, healthcare quality, financing, and patient outcomes.
Currently, she serves as Greece’s National Representative to the European Commission Expert Group on Health System Performance Assessment (HSPA) and as the national delegate to the OECD Health Committee and its relevant Working Parties, including Health Statistics, Health Care Quality and Outcomes, and the OECD Patient-Reported Indicator Survey (PaRIS). She is also a member of the OECD Health Data National Correspondents and Health Account Experts.
She has authored research papers in international journals on the subject of healthcare policy.
