Theo Filippopoulos received master’s degree in civil engineering from the National Technical University of Athens in 1989. He started his publishing career at the age of 27, when he took over the Greek monthly financial magazine "Kefalaio". In 1993 he co-founded "Capital Trade Shows", a company that organized the annual "Executive Cars" exhibition, as well as the "1st International Motor Show" in Greece. In 1994 he founded Attica Publications SA and acquired the rights to the monthly women's magazine Madame Figaro which marked the beginning of a very successful publishing career. The great success of Madame Figaro made Playboy Enterprises entrust Theo Filippopoulos with the title "Playboy", which soon became the leading men's magazine in Greece. In September 1999, after a series of business acquisitions such as the weekly title Tiletheatis and others, the company, under the guidance of Theo Filippopoulos, was listed on the Athens Stock Exchange. Strategic alliances followed and brought the company, which acquired the rights to popular international and Greek titles, to the top of the Greek media market.
In the following years, Attica Publishing Group expanded its activities and developed a strong presence in Eastern Europe through strategic synergies in Hungary and Romania. During the period 2001-2008 Attica Publishing established subsidiaries in Bulgaria and Serbia, acquired 50% of "Prooptiki" - the country's leading DVD and movie distribution company, as well as three popular radio stations (Athens Radio Dee Jay, Rock Fm and Lampsi).
Between 2007 - 2014, Theo Filippopoulos served as the elected president of SEPT (Magazine Publishers’ Association) for three consecutive terms.
He is currently the President of Attica Media Group, as well as the President of Capital.gr which owns the leading financial website in Greece Capital.gr, the weekly financial newspaper Kefalaio and Forbes brand in print and digital, while he is also serving his second term as elected president of ENED, which is the Greek Internet Publishers’ Association.
Currently, Attica Media Group controls 4 radio stations, 12 internet sites in every segment, including the general news site TheToc.gr, and 8 print titles.
It is considered the largest digital media group in the market in terms of total audience and number of brands.
