Irini Stamatoudi is a Professor at the Faculty of Law of the University of Nicosia (Cyprus) and a lawyer at the Supreme Court of Athens (Greece). She specialises in intellectual property and in cultural heritage law. From 2007 to 2018, she was the Director of the Hellenic Copyright Organisation. She has taught at the University of Leicester (UK), on the joint LL.M. of the University of Turin, ILO, and WIPO (Italy), at the University of Ankara (Turkey), at the International Hellenic University (Greece), at the Academy of the World Intellectual Property Organization (Switzerland), and on several other academic courses. She has undertaken cases of return of cultural treasures from abroad to Greece and was part of the negotiating team for the Parthenon Marbles at various stages from 1999 onwards. She was also a member of the Advisory Committees for the Parthenon Marbles. She has published numerous books and articles, some of which are considered internationally as works of reference.
