Dr. Elisa Pineda, PhD
Nutritional and Spatial Epidemiologist | Imperial College Research Fellow
Dr. Elisa Pineda is an Imperial College Research Fellow at the George Institute for Global Health in the United Kingdom. With over 15 years of research experience, her work focuses on food systems, food environments, food policy, and the prevention of diet-related non-communicable diseases.
She was awarded the Imperial College Research Fellowship to study the impact of food environment interventions on food choices and climate change. In addition to her academic research, she has worked as a food policy consultant and expert for the World Health Organization (WHO), the UK Health Forum, and Public Health England, contributing to initiatives such as the Global Database on the Implementation of Nutrition Action (GINA), taxation evaluations, and obesity projections in Europe.
Dr. Pineda is also an Academic Affiliate at the Centre for Health Economics and Policy Innovation and the School of Public Health at Imperial College London. In an educational capacity, she has led courses and workshops in South Asia, Latin America, and the UK.
She holds a PhD in Epidemiology and Public Health Nutrition from University College London (UCL), an MSc in Nutritional Science from CIAD, Mexico, and a BSc in Chemical Biology and Food Technology from the University of Sonora, Mexico.
