Giannis Ragkousis was born on December 11, 1965, in Athens. He graduated with honors from the Department of Economics at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He continued his studies at the University of Sussex in the United Kingdom, where he obtained a Master’s degree (MA) in Economic Development.
He was elected Mayor of Paros twice. He served as a Member of Parliament from 2007 to 2012 and again from 2019 to 2023.
He was sworn in as Minister of the Interior, Decentralization and e-Gov, Minister of Infrastructure, Transport and Networks, as well as Deputy Minister of National Defense.
He is a member of the Political Secretariat of SYRIZA – Progressive Alliance.
