Dr Georgios Samaras is a Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in Public Policy at the School for Government and Policy Institute, King’s College London. Previously, he was a Lecturer in Political Economy at the Department of Political Economy during the 2022/23 academic year.
He earned his PhD in Political Science from King’s College London. His research focuses on far-right extremism, political communication and policy responses to illiberal practices in politics. His publications primarily address the European context, offering comparative studies that enhance our understanding of both individual entities and entire movements.
Since 2024, he has been a Research Associate at the Hellenic Observatory, London School Economics. In addition, he sits on the advisory board of the Greek think tank ETERON and is a Research Associate at the Greek think tank ENA Institute.
He frequently appears on international and British media, including the BBC, The New York Times, Sky News and Al Jazeera, and regularly writes op-eds.
