Since May 2024, Aris Alexopoulos is the Head of the newly founded OECD Crete Centre on Population. He is Professor of Public Policy Analysis at the Department of Political Science of the University of Crete (on leave). During his academic career he has published extensively on the regulatory role of the State, on public policy reforms, the EU Political System, and the decision-making of International Organizations.
In the public sector, Alexopoulos has served as Secretary General of the Ministry of Environment Energy and Climate Change (2011-2012) and as Policy Advisor on policy reform projects to several Ministers' cabinets. In the private sector, he has considerable experience as a free-lancer in organizational restructuring and change management.
Alexopoulos holds a Doctorate in Political and Social Science from the European University Institute in Florence. He also holds a Master’s in Public Policy and Administration and a Postgraduate Diploma in Economics and Econometrics from the University of Southampton, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Physics from the University of Athens.
