Fotis Kafarakis served as News General Director at ERT (Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation) from July 2019 to February 2025. During his tenure, he led the launch of ERTNews, the organization’s first 24/7 news channel, overseeing the entire project from concept to execution. He has been working as a journalist at ERT since 1989, initially as a reporter (1989–1996), covering both domestic and international affairs. He was promoted to Editor-in-Chief , holding a central editorial role for more than two decades. He has also produced several documentary series for ERT on key topics such as the economy, climate change, energy, and brain drain. He studied Political Science and Public Administration at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and attended the Summer Investigative Reporting Course at Columbia University, New York, in 2017. He has also held positions in the private media sector, including Flash Radio, Antenna TV, and Alpha TV.
