Panagiotis Pikrammenos was born in Athens on July 26, 1945. He studied at the Law School of the University of Athens. He completed postgraduate studies in Public Law at the University of Panthéon-Assas, Paris II. In 1976 he was appointed Auditor of the Council of State and followed a judicial career. In 2009 he was elected President of the Council of State, a position he held until May 2012. In the period 2005-2010, he was General Director of the National School of Judges. He served as caretaker Prime Minister from 16 May 2012 until 20 June 2012, with the responsibility of leading the country to the June 2012 elections. He was elected head of the New Democracy State ballot in the 7 July 2019 elections.
