Emeritus professor of financial economics, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. Educated at Yale (B.A.) and the Sloan School of Management, MIT (M.Sc., Ph.D.) he has taught at MIT, CUNY and the University of Athens. His research interests cover governance of global markets, financial and corporate theory, the history of markets and regulation, ethics. He has authored, co-authored or edited many scholarly articles and several books in his areas of interest.
His public and institutional experiences include:
The Chair of the Hellenic Capital Market Commission (1996-2004).
The Inaugural Chair of the Public Interest Oversight Board (2005-2011), overseeing global financial standards.
The Inaugural Chair of the Board of the University of the Aegean (2013-16).
The Chair of the International Ethics Standards Board for Accountants (2015 to 2021).
Member of the Board of Trustees of the Cyprus Institute.
Member of several other national and International Boards and Committees in the public interest.
