Eirini Andriopoulou is an expert in labour economics, applied microeconomic analysis, and public policy. She currently serves as the Head of the Unit of Experts in Employment, Social Insurance, Welfare and Social Affairs (M.E.K.Y.) at the Hellenic Ministry of Labour and Social Insurance. Previously, she held the position of the Head of the Microeconomic Policy and Microsimulations Division at the Council of Economic Advisors of the Hellenic Ministry of Finance. Eirini has acted as a national delegate in various EU Committees and Working Groups such as the Ageing Working Group, the Working Group on Pension Adequacy, the EFC Sub-Committee on Statistics and the Economic Policy Committee. She is also a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the EUROMOD Tax Benefit Microsimulation Model.
Eirini has coordinated the design and implementation of various public policies primarily in the fields of social welfare, social insurance, labour markets and taxation. Her expertise includes conducting fiscal and distributional impact assessments. Engaged in negotiations related to economic adjustment programs for Greece and the enhanced surveillance process, she actively participates in European economic governance procedures and collaborates with international organizations on issues pertaining to the Greek economy and technical assistance.
Eirini holds a doctorate degree in Economics from Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB), where she also completed her undergraduate studies. She obtained her master's degree in Development Management at the London School of Economics and Political Science. She has conducted post-doctoral research related to unemployment dynamics and the minimum wage. Her research interests focus on poverty, inequality of income distribution, labour markets and taxation.
