Christos Housiadas is a mechanical engineer from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) with postgraduate and doctoral studies at the French CEA (Commissariat à l'Énergie Atomique) and the INP Grenoble (Institut National Polytechnique de Grenoble). He worked for several years in France and at the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission. Subsequently, he returned to Greece, joining the National Centre for Scientific Research “Demokritos,” where he managed the operation of the research reactor and the Thermal-Hydraulics & Multiphase Flows Laboratory. Since 2008, he has served as the Chairman of the Greek Atomic Energy Commission (EEAE).
Scientifically, Dr. Housiadas is a recognized expert in aerosol flows, both nuclear and non-nuclear. Additionally, he has extensive European experience in management roles. During the Greek Presidency of the EU Council (first half of 2014), he chaired the respective Council Working Party, achieving a landmark agreement on the revised European Directive 2014/87/Euratom on nuclear safety. He also served two terms as Vice-Chairman (representing a non-nuclear EU Member State) of the European Nuclear Safety Regulators Group (ENSREG).
