Stelios Sakaretsios is the President of the Hellenic Cadastre, a position he has held since September 2023, leading the organization through a comprehensive digital transformation. Under his leadership, the Hellenic Cadastre became the first public institution in Greece to harness artificial intelligence for the accelerated and automated processing of administrative procedures, setting a national benchmark for innovation, efficiency, and citizen-centric services in the public sector.
During his tenure, 392 mortgage offices—an outdated and highly bureaucratic institution—were abolished, marking a historic administrative reform. Additionally, under his leadership, the long-stalled land registration process (cadastral mapping), a project delayed for over 30 years, was unblocked and is now approaching full completion, fulfilling a critical national objective.
He holds a Master’s degree in Digital Innovation and Startup Entrepreneurship, a joint program offered by the National Technical University of Athens and the University of the Aegean, and is a graduate of the University of Piraeus, specializing in the analysis and design of complex IT systems.
With over 15 years of professional experience in digital transformation and IT project leadership, Mr. Sakaretsios previously served as Head of Digital Operations at the Hellenic Development Bank (HDB) until July 2023. During his tenure, he was instrumental in delivering strategic digital initiatives, including the "Know Your Customer" platform, which enabled thousands of businesses to access financing through a seamless and innovative digital process.
Throughout his career, he has worked as a Digital Strategy Consultant for numerous private sector organizations, guiding large-scale, technology-driven transformation projects. He is a member of the Greek Chamber of Commerce, actively contributing to the advancement of digital innovation and public sector modernization in Greece.
