Vassilios P. Vertoudakis is Associate Professor of Ancient Greek Philology at the Department of Classics of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. He was born in Rhodes in 1965. He studied Classics in Athens, Heidelberg and Thessaloniki (Ph.D. 1996). Since 2000 he has been a lecturer at the Hellenic Open University (Program: Studies in Greek Culture). Research Fellow at the University of Heidelberg (2002, DAAD scholarship). He has been a guest lecturer, speaker or researcher in Tenerife, Tbilisi, Nicosia, Berlin, Paris, Sydney, Vienna, Izmir, Boston, Helsinki, Beijing, Milan. Since 2012-13 he teaches at the University of Athens (Greek historiography, Attic tragedy, erotic literature, political philosophy). He is also interested in classical reception studies and the history of ideas in the West.
