Mr. Andreas Anastasiou since November 2024 is General Manager, Chief Audit Executive (CAE) at Piraeus Bank S.A.
He is a qualified (CMIIA) auditor with extensive international experience of more than 16 years in Risk Management and Internal Audit within investment banking and wider financial service businesses.
Prior to joining Piraeus Bank S.A, he served for four (4) years as a Senior Director – Head of Internal Audit at Intercontinental Exchange (ICE) based in London responsible for the provision of assurance activities for all business in EMEA and APAC regions. Under this capacity he was also the primary contact for all major international regulatory authorities in the jurisdictions where ICE was operating.
During the period 2013 – 2020, Mr Anastasiou worked for Citigroup based in London as the Director - Head of Internal Audit for Greece, Italy, Cyprus, Malta while also serving at the leadership team for Risk Management and regulatory interaction.
Before that, he was an Associate Director with Barclays Bank PLC for three (3 years) while his business career started off at Banco Santander in 2008 based in London where he worked as a Senior Quantitative Analyst within the bank’s Risk Management division.
Mr Anastasiou holds a PhD (scholarship) in Applied Econometrics and an MSc (Distinction) in Economics from the University of Reading (UK). He also holds a BSc (Distinction) in Chemistry from the University of Patras (Greece). Since 2022 he is also an industry partner of the Hellenic Bankers Association (HBA) UK for Exchanges and Clearing Houses
