Thanassis Theocharopoulos is Agriculturalist MSc and holds a PhD in Agricultural Economics. He has worked in academic institutions, teaching a significant range of courses in the fields of Sustainable Development, Agricultural Policy and Economics of Natural Resources and Environment. He has participated in a multitude of research programs, supported by the European Commission and various universities. His scientific publications include more than 50 papers in international scientific journals, conferences and in chapters of international scientific books. He served as Special Secretary for Community Resources and Infrastructure of the Ministry of Rural Development and Food. He has been elected as Member of Parliament, Secretary of the Central Committee and President of Democratic Left Party. In 2019 he served as Minister of Tourism in the government of SYRIZA. He was Director of the Parliamentary Group of SYRIZA – Progressive Alliance from 2019 to 2023. He is an elected member of the Central Committee and Political Secretary (2022-2025) and Director of President of SYRIZA – Progressive Alliance Party (2024 – 2025).
