Panagiotis Iossif is a classical archaeologist, a specialist of the Hellenistic East, while his main object of research is ancient coinage and econimy, religion and the methods of iconographic analyses.
He completed his PhD (summa cum laude) at the University of Liège (Belgium) where he is a scientific collaborator since 2016. In 2017, he was elected Professor of Ancient and Medieval Numismatics at the Radboud University, Nijmegen (NL). From 2023, he is also the academic director of the Museum of Cycladic Art Athens where he curated two major exhibitions.
He has received numerous scholarships and awards (Prussian Academy of Sciences, Berlin;Oxford University-Kraay Schlarship;Princeton University, the A.G. Leventis Foundation et al.). He received fellowships from the American Numismatic Society and the Royal Numismatic Society. In 2020-2021 he was the visiting professor at the Ecole Pratique des Hautes Etudes in Paris.
He is the author and editor of 12 books, three exhibition catalogues and published more than 80 articles in peer-reviewed journals and edited volumes. He is member of numerous scientific committees and journals.
