Yannis Bassias brings 35 years experience in the energy sector and frontier hydrocarbon basins. In recent years he focuses on technology and economics affecting the energy mix cost. He managed the Hellenic Hydrocarbon Resources state company, overseeing E&P contracts and implementing the European offshore safety directive in Greece. He was member of the Greek Committee of National Energy and Climate, contributed to electricity projects in Western Macedonia and the FSRU project in Volos, Central Greece. Previously, he had an academic career at the Marine Geology Lab of the National Museum of Natural History in Paris and the Free University of Berlin. He graduated from the Kapodistrian University in Athens, holds a PhD from Pierre et Marie Curie University in Paris, and was a Council of Europe Fellow in Paris and an Alexander von Humboldt Foundation Research Fellow in Berlin.
