Mr. Georgios Kotsiras was born in 1984.
In March 2025, he was appointed Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance. From July 2019, he has been elected MP for West Attica (Attica B Constituency (West)) with New Democracy and from January 2021 to May 2023 he served as Deputy Minister of Justice. From June 2023 to March 2025 he served as Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs. During the period 2019-2021, he was a member of the Standing Committee on Public Administration, Public Order and Justice, the Special Standing Committee on Equality, Youth and Human Rights, the Subcommittee on Disability Issues and the Constitutional Revision Committee (2019), Vice-Chairman of the Greece-France Friendship Group of the Parliament and Member of the Greece-Serbia Friendship Group of the Parliament.
He is a graduate and Doctoral Degree holder of the School of Law of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, specializing in European Law, Competition Law, State Aid, Business Law and Administrative Law (LL.M, Master II). He holds two postgraduate degrees: in European Law from the School of Law of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and in Administrative Law and Local Self-Government (Droit administratif et Collectivités Territoriales) from the University of Aix-Marseille III "Paul Cézanne" in France. He completed his doctoral dissertation at the Department of International Studies of the School of Law of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens in the field of European Law ("Recovery of illegal state aid") and he received the Doctoral Degree in Legal Science (J.D.) (Grade: "Excellent”) in 2014.
In addition, he has participated in studies related to European law and Business Law. An updated version of his doctoral dissertation entitled "State Aid Recovery in EU Law and the Greek Legal Order" has been published by Nomiki Bibliothiki (2015). He has participated as a speaker in many conferences, workshops, summer schools, and he has written numerous articles published in the daily and weekly press. He has practiced law specializing in Competition Law, State Aid, Administrative, Commercial and European law. He has been elected Board Member of the Trainee & Young Lawyers’ Association of Athens twice, having served as a member of the Board, Vice President and President (2010-2014). He has been a Greek champion in tennis (2nd place at the 2001 Panhellenic Championship in doubles under 18). He is fluent in English and French.
