Maria Syrengela has held prominent positions in both the private and public sectors, with expertise in human resources and a strong focus on gender equality, women’s empowerment, family support, and combating gender-based violence. She has served as a member of the ONNED Executive Bureau, Vice President of the Youth of the European People’s Party, Vice President of the Women of the European People's Party, and Vice President of the Research Center for Gender Equality (KETHI). From 2015 to 2019, she led New Democracy's Secretariat for Family Policy & Gender Equality. In 2019, she was appointed General Secretary for Family Policy & Gender Equality at the Ministry of Labor, and in 2021, she was named Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, responsible for Equality, Demographic Policy, and Family—a newly established portfolio. In 2023, Ms. Syrengela was elected as a Member of Parliament for Athens’ Western District and currently serves on several parliamentary committees. On November 20, 2023, she was elected Secretary of the Political Committee of New Democracy.
