Ioannis Zampoukis, was born in Alexandroupolis and graduated from the Faculty of Law at Democritus University of Thrace. He continued his postgraduate studies in Medical Mediation at DUTH and holds a master’s degree in Bioethics, DUTH.
He is a Lawyer in the Supreme Court and in the Council of State. He was first elected Mayor of Alexandroupolis in 2019 and he reelected in the recent local elections 2023 gaining the percentage of 60.51%. Prior to his involvement in politics and his election, he was an active professional Lawyer with more than twenty years of experience, both in Alexandroupolis and throughout Greece. He was also President of the Alexandroupolis Bar Association from March 2014 to 2019.
He is an accredited Mediator of the Ministry of Justice of Greece (Mediator – ADR HELLENIC CENTER) and trainer of candidate mediators in the ADR, founder and president of INKADA (Alexandroupolis Training Institute of Mediators) under the auspices of the Ministry of Justice95. He is a certified data protection officer (GDPR Data Protection Officer – by TUV HELLAS).
He also participated as a member of the coordinating committee of the Ministry of Justice for the promotion of mediation (ministerial decision 172 / 15-1-2014, Government Gazette 79/2014) and as chairman of the prefectural committee for the settlement of commercial leases of law 4013/2011 from 2012 to in 2018.
He has participated in many international forums and conferences, such as Delphi Economic Forum, East Macedonia and Thrace Forum and Thessaloniki Summit.
In June 2019, he was elected Mayor of Alexandroupolis with the Municipal party “Δήμος για όλους-Πρώτα Εσύ!” (Municipality for All – First you). His favorite motto is “We design with a focus on human being”.
