Dr. Antonios Alexiou is the Director General of the Hellenic Gaming Commission
(HGC). He holds a PhD from the Department of Computer Engineering and
Informatics at the University of Patras. An experienced executive in the field of
Information Technology and Digital Transformation, he has over 15 years of
experience in high-responsibility positions.
He specializes in strategic management, the design and implementation of large-
scale IT projects, data science and regulatory compliance. Antonios Alexiou holds
multiple professional certifications in information systems auditing and security
(CISA, ISO 27001, MCP Data Warehouse). He has been honored with awards for
academic and professional excellence and has published more than 80 scientific
articles in international conferences and journals in the field of communication
networks.
He has been working for the HGC since 2014. At present, he is working on the
systematic revision of Greek gambling regulations, intending to simplify procedures
and implement effective strategies to counter illegal gambling operations.
Additionally, he is leading the digital transformation of the HGC, primarily focusing on
the implementation of the Data Warehouse (DW) for storing, analyzing and
presenting gambling data from the gambling sector in Greece.
