Takis S Pappas (PhD, Yale) is a political scientist and author known for his original work on global populism and democracy. A former professor of comparative politics, he taught at various universities in Greece, Finland, France, Germany, Austria, Luxembourg, and Hungary. He has authored seven books including Populism and Liberal Democracy: A Comparative and Theoretical Analysis (Oxford University Press, 2019) and, more recently, Paradoxical Country: Why Greece Lags Behind Ireland and Portugal and What Do We Learn From Them? (2024, in Greek), while is currently working on a new book project under the (tentative) title "In Trump’s Era." He is a regular columnist in Greek newspaper Kathimerini and lives between Brussels, Belgium, and Athens, Greece.
