Amalia Giannakikou currently serves as the Managing Director, Iberia at Masdar and holds the position of sole Director of Masdar Europe SL. Since joining Masdar in 2011, she has played a pivotal role in the company's structure, spearheading business growth, project development, and commercial activities. Her responsibilities encompass both public and private sector initiatives, with significant exposure to G2G, G2B, and B2B projects.
With 30 years of experience in the energy sector, Mrs. Giannakikou has worked for major utility companies and IPPs, including Motor Oil Hellas (during the JV with Saudi Aramco) and Iberdrola. Her primary focus has been on the development and commercialization of renewable energy projects and international business expansion. Additionally, she has extensive experience in energy consultancy and the oil and gas sectors, with a strong background in strategic business development, company and project acquisitions, project development, and project finance.
Throughout her career, Mrs. Giannakikou has acquired diverse energy knowledge with professional exposure in numerous countries and regions, particularly in Europe.
Mrs. Giannakikou is UK-educated and holds an MSc in Business Finance from Brunel University, University of London, and a BEng in Manufacturing Systems Engineering with Management from King’s College London, University of London.
