Dr. Konstantinos A. Kanellopoulos is currently a Corporate Governance Senior Specialist at Alpha Bank, where he contributes to regulatory compliance, board-level governance, and strategic oversight. Prior to this, he served as Post Doctoral Fellow and Project Manager at the Arianne Condellis European Programme at the Hellenic Foundation for European and Foreign Policy (ELIAMEP), conducting research on European governance and administering the activities of the EPACE-EU research project (Enhancing Public Awareness and Civic Engagement in the EU), which seeks to increase the understanding by the citizens, especially young people, of the EU policymaking dynamics.
He holds a Ph.D. in Politics from the University of Manchester, where his research used Historical Institutionalism to analyze Greece’s economic crises during the Great Depression and the Global Financial Crisis, identifying key structural parallels. He also holds a Master’s in International Economics and International Relations from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), where he was a Stavros Niarchos Fellow, and a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations and Philosophy from American University in Washington, D.C.
His areas of expertise include European politics, the Economic and Monetary Union (EMU), governance, sustainability, crisis management, and the polycentric world order. He has worked extensively with European institutions, think tanks, and academia, contributing to Erasmus+, Horizon 2020, and Horizon Europe projects focused on sustainability, economic impact, and institutional governance.
As Chief Administrator of the Manchester Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence, he led international collaborations, high-level events, and strategic outreach. Dr. Kanellopoulos has participated as a speaker and moderator in international fora such as the Delphi Economic Forum and the Concordia Summit. His forthcoming book on Greece’s twin economic crises will be published by Papazissis Publications. He was recognized as a Tomorrow 25 Leader by Time magazine and Bentley University and is an active member of several academic associations.
